Florida State Pro/Am Surfing Championships

  

APRIL 30, 2011 – ALL PRO DIVISIONS TO BE HELD IN CONJUNCTION WITH WAVE MASTERS ON MAY 7-8 – SOUTHSIDE OF JAX BEACH PIER

This year’s Florida State Surfing Championship, to be held for the first time in Jacksonville Beach.

The Florida Surfing Association will host the “States” at the Jacksonville Pier in Jacksonville Beach Florida Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Start time is 9:00 AM.  There will be State Champions crowned in over 16 divisions.  The top Amateur and Professional athletes from across the State are planning to compete in the event. 

The first place finisher in the Taco Lu Men’s Pro division will be awarded a $1,000 cash prize, while the first place finisher in the Drew’s Surf Stick Junior Pro will be awarded $500. In addition, the Natural Fiji Women Pro Champion will receive $500 in prize winnings and the Wave Masters Longboard Pro Champion will also be awarded $500.

In addition to these high profile professional surfing divisions there will also be several amateur divisions including a 9 and under age bracket and a grand master division for 50 years of age and older competitors. Competitors will be competing in be both shortboard and longboard events throughout the event.

If you have already entered the event for December/January you are good.  If you have not you may still enter now.   Enries are pouring in.  We will host both the States contest and the Great Atlantic Surf Fest on the same weekend.  You must enter each contest individually if you would like to surf in both.  There will be seperate trophies for each.  With the recent 10th World Title win by Floridian Kelly Slater the eyes are once again focused on Florida producing some of the best surfing talent in the world and this will be showcased at the State Championships at the center of the Florida surfing world – Jacksonville Beach!
