FREE SURFING EVENT!
The Florida Surfing Association proudly announces the 5th Annual Super Grom Surf Fest Series coming to Jacksonville Beach on June 8, July 6 and August 3, 2013. All three events will be held on the south side of the Jacksonville Beach Pier. The event is from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM on all three dates, given acceptable surf conditions. Each event is free and includes: lunch, a t-shirt, a medal and a goody bag for each participant. The event is open to participants ages 10 and under. A parent or legal guardian must accompany each participant at all times. This is a great opportunity to learn to surf with the best surfers at the Beaches, while building confidence and self-esteem. “It is our way of putting back into the community and promoting a positive opportunity for kids to learn to surf, for the families to come out together and for everyone to have a good time! With the economic times we are faced with a free event for the family, on the beach, that is fun, healthy, and introduces the sport of surfing to a whole new generation – we feel this is important and we appreciate everyone’s support.” Paul West FSA Director
Whether through participation or sponsorship, The Super Grom Surf Festival Series is a terrific way to get involved in the Beaches community. This event was a huge success last year and many participants have already signed up for this year’s events. The staff is comprised entirely of volunteers who will make sure the event is a success for each and every child involved.
The event is free and is a great way to spend a day on the beach with family and friends. Participation is limited to 150 entries per event on a first come first serve basis. PLEASE NOTE THIS YEAR YOU MAY ONLY ENTER ONE SUPER GROM SURF FESTIVAL! This is an introductory surf program and we wish to make sure we introduce the sport of surfing to as many “new” groms as possible.
WE would like to give our sincerest appreciation to the Beaches Hospitality Network who has come on board to assist us with sponsorship and community support this year. This year’s medals are provided by Ed the owner of Angie’s Groms! And the first event t-shirt is paid for by Two Dudes Restaurant, Twice the Ice, Lifestyles Realty and Great Atlantic Outfitters. The food on the beach is provided by Taco Lu, Bojangles, Oriental Karinderia and Honey Baked Ham. Remember to thank these businesses for supporting the youth in the community with this dynamic program. This event has grown into one of the highlights of the summer at the beaches. We look forward to even bigger and better events and we appreciate everyone’s support.
