This event was coordinated with the Wounded Warrior Project and held in conjunction with the Seven Tiki Pro in Jacksonville Beach. Veterans were learned to surf at the southside of the Pier. It was a great day with excellent weather and surf conditions. It was a great way to give back to those that have given so much.

Duval County wins the Gold!
16 Athetes, 15 instructors/coaches/assistants, plus tons of family went to the second Special Olympics Surfing Games in Cocoa Beach hosted by Ron Jon Surf Shop. The turnout was fantastic, there were fun waves, only a few jelly fish and lots of energy! The surfing had progressed tremendously from last year and the competition was fierce. Of the 6 divisions, Duval won gold in 3 and silver in 2, placing in the lead overall in the event in top position in level 3 for both men and women. It was an amazing event, after 2 months of practice, preparation and the County Games the athletes went down to win and win they did! Congratulations once again going to Donica Hayes the director for Special Olympics in Duval County.
