Sea Lion Surf Club Meeting

The Sea Lion Surf Club has had to reschedule its regular monthly meeting from Wednesday the 8th to Wednesday the 15th at 6:30pm at Fox’s Pizza in Ponte Vedra Beach. This month’s meeting is going to focus on upcoming events, fundraisers and how everyone can get involved to help make this club a success for the kids! We need some parent volunteers to help organize, carry out and supervise upcoming functions and fundraisers as well as input on keeping the momentum going!
Thanks to all who participated in our last month’s event at Bogey’s it was a huge success and we were able to raise more than $500 for the Wolitz Family through our surfboard raffle. A special thanks to Mallory Turner, Piper Austin and Jake Maguire for supporting our club and making the night memorable for the kids. Also a big thumbs up to Sunrise Surf Shop and Ty Miller who are always willing to go that extra mile to make sure this club is a success! You guys are the best!

The new Surf Club called Sea Lions from Landrum Middle School will be hosting their first official “off campus” meeting at Bogey’s in Ponte Vedra. Sea Lion Surf Club – Landrum Middle School

On December 15, the Landrum/FSA Sea Lions Surf Club had their first meeting.  It was an excellent turnout.  The Club is sponsored by Sunrise Surf Shop and Fox’s Pizza.  The club is designed to help the students provide a service in the community with various philanthropic projects as well as have fun, surf, help out at surfing contest and maybe even have their own surf competition and interscholastic surf competition. 

For their first charitable  project they have chosen a family close to home. The Landrum/FSA Sea Lions Surf Club is raising funds to help assist in meeting the financial demands of the Wolitz family during this very trying time in their lives.  Recently Kevin Wolitz, the older brother of Landrum student Dustin Wolitz, was in a tragic accident that has left him paralyzed from the neck down. Dustin and his sister Jayme have been pulled from school for an undetermined amount of time to be with their mother in the hospital who is unable to work while Kevin undergoes treatment.

The Sea Lions are raffling a new 7’2″ Epoxy Morey Funboard donated by the Landrum Dean of Students, Christopher “Stretch” Wetjen. Tickets are $1 and all proceeds will go directly to the Wolitz Family.  You can find the surfboard displayed right now and donate $1 at Sunrise Surf Shop on Beach Boulevard in Jacksonville Beach and at Fox’s Pizza on CR 210 in Ponte Vedra . 

The Sea Lions are having a “Family Fun Night” sponsored by one of the industry leaders where some of the best North Florida professional surfers will be signing autographs and giving away stuff.  It is at 6:00 PM, January 18 at Bogey’s Grill  150 Valley Circle • Ponte Vedra Beach, near the Ace Hardware on AIA.

The winner of the Surfboard raffle will be drawn in February at the Sea Lions monthly club meeting. You do not need to be present to win the surfboard. Thank You For Your Support! Let’s show the Wolitz Family that the Surfing Community Cares!

Surfing Santa

On December 13, the Florida Surfing Association delivered toys and visiting with children at Wolfsons Hospital in Jacksonville. The toys were collected at the State Championships as well as several retail establishments in North Florida including, Sunrise Surf Shop, Aqua East Surf Shopt, Coggin Nisson Atlantic, Panda Express and Brix at the VOID party. FSA would like to thank all the people who have contributed to make this happen, especially Tim Mottern and Drews Surf Stick!  After Wolfsons the FSA  stopped by Community Hospice Ped Care to deliver even more toys. This year we are doing something totally unique and fresh. Instead of an entry fee competitors may decide to bring a toy (unwrapped) to enter the contest. We are going to invite a couple of pro’s and the winner of each division to go with us on December 13 to Wolfsan’s Children’s Hospital to visit and distribute the toys to the kids! We are going to reschedule Pier Pressure this weekend and run it in conjunction with States on December 3-4. All entries will be forwarded.
